ross%20space%20and%20time%20on%20multiple%20scales%20in%20order%20to%20maintain%20an%20adaptive%20match%20to%20the%20environment%2C%20and%20how%20failures%20of%20adaptive%20tracking%20lead%20to%20disease.%20In%20this%20review%2C%20we%20try%20to%20present%20this%20complex%20body%20of%20theory%20as%20clearly%20and%20simply%20as%20possible%20with%20the%20aim%20of%20facilitating%20its%20application%20in%20new%20domains.%20We%20introduce%20terminology%2C%20which%20is%20as%20far%20as%20possible%20consistent%20with%20earlier%20usage%2C%20to%20distinguish%20the%20different%20forms%20of%20mismatch.%20Mismatch%20in%20its%20modern%20form%20is%20a%20productive%20organising%20concept%20that%20can%20help%20researchers%20articulate%20how%20physiology%2C%20development%20and%20evolution%20interact%20with%20one%20another%20and%20with%20environmental%20change%20to%20explain%20health%20outcomes.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222023%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1093%5C%2Femph%5C%2Feoad023%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%222050-6201%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Facademic.oup.com%5C%2Femph%5C%2Fadvance-article%5C%2Fdoi%5C%2F10.1093%5C%2Femph%5C%2Feoad023%5C%2F7237855%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22GJWK69GA%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222023-08-24T05%3A08%3A12Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
